Two of the most powerful and underrated ingredients in a successful hiring process.
When hiring teams are open with their recruiter, everything gets sharper. We gain clarity on what really matters, where there’s room to flex, and what the role actually looks like day to day. This helps us represent the opportunity authentically and bring forward the right people — not just based on skills, but overall fit.
But it’s not just on the client side.
As recruiters we must be open with both hiring teams and candidates. Clear updates, honest feedback, and transparency around where things stand make a huge difference in managing expectations and keeping both parties engaged. I have often had delays in getting back to candidates and sometimes the update is 'the update is, we have no update' but I always do my best to provide any sort of feedback.
But let’s not forget the candidates.
Openness from candidates about goals, motivations, concerns, and even other processes you are involved in is equally important. It helps us guide you, avoid mismatches, and ultimately land you the role where you will thrive.
Hires don’t happen by accident. The best hiring journeys happen when everyone communicates.
