Tip No.6:
"Should I Stay or Should I Go?" - How to Know When It's Time to Move On
Itβs a question I hear weekly from friends, colleagues, candidates, even clients:
βIs it time to start looking?β
So this week, Iβm sharing my take on the real signs itβs time to consider a moveβ¦ and how to do it with clarity, not chaos.
Career Stagnation is Real.
According to a recent LinkedIn Workplace report, 59% of professionals said lack of career growth was their number one reason for leaving a role.
If you havenβt learned anything new in the last 6 β 12 months, or if promotions always seem to pass you by, thatβs a red flag.
Toxic Culture? Trust Your Gut.
From microaggressions to constant burnout, culture creep can be subtle but it adds up.
If your Sunday night dread feels heavier than it used to, or if youβre constantly βperformingβ at work rather than being yourself, it might be time to reassess.
Create a Plan, Donβt Just Rage-Resign
Itβs tempting to quit on a bad day, but the most successful career pivots come from strategy, not emotion.
Take stock:
β’ What are your non-negotiables now?
β’ What does growth look like to you?
β’ Whoβs in your network that can help you move smartly?
My Top Tip: Keep an eye out before it gets urgent. The best time to look is when youβre curious, not when youβre desperate.
And remember, exploring doesnβt mean disloyalty, it means valuing your own development.
Let me know below β have you ever just known it was time to go? Or stayed too long before realising it?
